Exposure Therapy

Exposure therapy is a research-backed approach that helps people face fears and anxieties in a safe and supportive environment. By working on not continuing to avoid what causes the distress, we will gently and gradually work together to approach it step by step. It will always be at your pace in order to feel more manageable for you. It is an approach that takes time, effort and can feel draining at times. At Stillwater Healing we will create, build and lean on skills and supports in order to start the process, and help create lasting change.

As an example: If someone has a fear of flying, we might start with talking about airplanes, then looking at pictures, and then practicing being at an airport. By practicing this, over time it can lessen the intensity of fear, build confidence, and create lasting change.
